Car Care
Oil Change
One of the most important things required to keep a vehicle on the road is an oil change typically scheduled every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. At the same time, there are some people that don't pay attention to their mileage or just forget. If not done regularly, a simple low cost maintenance item can easily turn into an engine replacement that could cost thousands.
Also, during an oil change a good shop or mechanic will look at as much of the vehicle as possible while it's up in the air to check for anything else that may need attention or immediate repair.
Warning Lights
Lets say that you have a warning or Check Engine light on in your vehicle. Lets also say that you know what that light is for, but it doesn't fully or negatively affect the way your vehicle runs or drives. I have even been quilty of this myself, so I know what it's like.
While not all warning light repairs absolutely need to be taken care of immediately, you also have to keep in mind that you only have one warning light per system on most cars.
So if your warning light is on for say an "EVAP" code which usually doesn't affect how your engine runs, another probably could arise at a later date that could very well affect your engine and possibly cause a lot of damage to it. Though you wouldn't know about it because your engine light is already on for something else.
This is why it can be very important to take care of any warning light that lights up on your dash as soon as possible.
Suspension
While most people don't know this, keeping your suspension in good shape is one of the most important things required to making sure your car handles and stops safely at all times. In fact, some states require that every vehicle registered in their state goes through a state inspection and will suspend a registration if there's anything loose on the suspension or if the tires show too much wear or cracking.
Your suspension is what keeps your tires on the road, as well as maximizing the life of your tires.
Brakes
Depending on where you take your vehicle for service, having your brakes serviced can be very costly on some vehicles. However, if you take your vehicle to an honest and reputable shop they'll offer you brake pads/shoes that have a Lifetime warranty direct from the manufacturer.
Your brakes can also affect the handling of your car if your brakes are worn or not operating correctly.
Maintenance
It’S IMPORTANT
Whether your bought your vehicle new or used, it still likely put a big dent in your checking account.
This is why it's important to treat your vehicle as an investment even if it's paid off and you feel that you got your moneys worth.
Regular maintenance will keep it running at it's best for years.
